HD Filler Treatments and Procedures

HD MedSpa & Clinic offers Restylane® and Perlane® filler treatments, also known as injectable cosmetic dermal fillers.  Dermal fillers are used to increase volume and restore youthful facial skin contours, thus smoothing away moderate to severe wrinkles and folds.  These folds and lines (called nasal-labial folds) gradually appear in many people’s faces over time.

The active ingredient in these products is hyaluronic acid (HA) which is produced by the same biotechnical process.  The difference is in gel particle size.  Perlane® gel particles are larger and designed for deeper injection areas.  Restylane is used for less invasive injection areas.

Based on a visual evaluation of your facial wrinkles and nasal-labial folds, Dr. Diaz will discuss the best choice of cosmetic options for your individual need.

These dermal filler treatments are proven to deliver long-lasting results. For a majority of patients, the results usually last for about six months.  Dr. Diaz will discuss the benefits of scheduling a follow-up appointment to evaluate and monitor your results and progress.

These products’ patented stabilization technology help maintain their cosmetic effect for those time periods.  Over this time, they are slowly broken down and eliminated by the body, unlike permanent fillers.

Both Restylane® and Perlane® are FDA approved for facial dermal filling procedures.

Restylane® has been used in over 1.4 million treatments in the U.S. and is available in more than 70 countries.  It is the most studied cosmetic dermal filler in the world, with dozens of professional publications in medical literature.  These clinical studies have consistently shown no significant difference in the safety of Restylane® and Perlane®.

The Procedure

Restylane® and Perlane® are injected directly into the skin in small amounts by an ultra fine needle.  As with all injections, some patients may experience discomfort.  To increase comfort levels, Dr. Diaz will assess each patient’s pain management status and will determine if local anesthesia to minimize pain and discomfort is necessary.

After treatment, patients may experience some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, and tenderness.  These conditions are not permanent and normally last less than seven days.

Contraindications and other Health Precautions

Restylane® and Perlane® require no pre-testing but there are a few precautions before beginning treatment.  To avoid the possibility of bruising or increased bleeding, prior to treatment, patients should discontinue the consumption of:

  • Aspirin
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications
  • St. John’s Wort and High doses of Vitamin E

If you have a previously suffered from facial cold sores, discuss this with Dr. Diaz.  You may need a medication/prescription to minimize recurrence.  In addition, those who have allergies to gram-positive bacteria are not candidates for the use of these products.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® filler stimulates the body to produce its own natural collagen to restore fullness and smooth out the signs of aging. Calcium Hydroxylapatite microspheres in an aqueous gel carrier , provide an immediate result that instantly corrects facial wrinkles to give you a natural and younger look that lasts. The gel is absorbed and the body is stimulated to produce its own natural collagen. Over time , the microspheres break down to calcium and phosphate ions which are absorbed by the body through the natural metabolic process.

Each person’s ability to make collagen varies, so a touch-up treatment may be necessary to achieve a maximum lasting effect.

Radiesse® filler has FDA approval for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and also it is indicated for signs of facial lipoatrophy associated with HIV.
